Easter Memories

Happy Easter!!! He is risen just as he said!!!!

We celebrated Easter with our kids. We are cleaning out our freezers so we rotated our last turkey and leg of lamb!

Oh my! It was the most delicious meal I thought I’d ever made! The kids reminded me it wasn’t!!! But it was SO good! You just can’t beat fresh food and having skin in the game, it always tastes so much better.

Ben brought rolls! He can’t eat good food without something to slop it up with!

I rolled the asparagus in smoked bacon, sprinkled with EVOO, salt and pepper….oh SO good!!!,

I marinated the boned and rolled leg of lamb in EVOO, garlic, dried rosemary, salt and pepper. The roasted it at 450* for 15 minutes then an hour at 350*. So beautiful!!!,

Birthday Wishes!

Jake is 1 today!!! I whispered in his ear that the worst is behind us! But in all honesty he has been an excellent puppy!!! Of course he’s mine!

I’ve been locking him in “his room” at night just because I need to sleep. Sometimes if something sets him off early in the evening he is on edge allllllll night looooong and barks at every tiny little thing!

You can see that he cleans up pretty well all on his own. Last evening he was completely muck color! This morning….he’s a beauty again!

He’s almost grown into his feet, but I’d say he still has another 10-25 lbs to go. I love him SO much and whisper in his ear every day how good he is and that he’s loved.

He sucks it up! All of it!!! At one he’s quite use to routines and commands. We walk the back pasture every morning and night and he loves that time and waits patiently for it until I’m done feeding hay to the “girls”. I call our wethers girls!!!:)They sorta are and they don’t know any differently. Don’t get me wrong….Jake does have his ornery side!!!! Hey that’s what puppies do! They act ornery!!!

Walkin On The Bright Side

As we wind down day 3 of our renovation, I’m feelin pretty bright!

After day 2 we had this.

After day 3 we have this.

20130116-202102.jpg

You don’t really appreciate it as much without knowing that these cabinets were RTA….Ready To Assemble! We saved over $1,000.00 to have our contractor assemble them! He said that they have been quite a puzzle since they came without instructions!!!

And we have this.

20130116-202122.jpg

I’m cooking in the laundry room on a hot plate and thawing meat in the bathroom sink. I decided that it was easier to just wash the dishes in the toilet and kill two birds with one stone. Bwahahaaa!!!!!

The dishwasher is full of dirty dishes and the contractor thought it was done and cut it off! So, they will just sit in there until next Wednesday when the plumber is coming to replumb the sink and hook up the new gas range.

We’re moving along at a pretty good clip and I really love our contractor. He’s quiet and relaxed and frankly puts off good energy in what could be a very stressful situation. But heck it’s all good and he’s doing a really nice job.

It’s been raining cats and dogs this week….but I’m not complaining! Oh no! Tomorrow they are calling for s#o@ …..we don’t like using that word around here!

AND tomorrow is a very important day! Jake is turning 1! If the weather cooperates I’ll get a picture! He is covered in mud because he LOVES the rain! He jumps in the mud I mean mucky manure because he likes to chase rain drops that fall off the barn roof!! He runs back and forth all day jumping and biting at the sky!!!! What a hoot he is! But he is purely the color of muck!

That ought to make a memorable birthday picture!!!!:)

Aromatherapy Fix

I made a mental note yesterday……never a good thing since my mind has taken Vaca while the renovations are underway!!! But I tried to make a mental note that I needed a bar of soap BEFORE I jumped in the shower first thing this morning.

The funny thing is it worked! I did remember!!! All of my body care inventory is in the guest room and I magically have all my soap categorized and an inventory on this little machine! I opened the box labeled Castile Soap. The Castile is 100% Olive Oil and SO delicious on wintery dry skin. I’d just sold all of my Clary Sage, and have plenty of Lavender, but I was drawn to a controversial bar. Patchouli Rosehip!

Patchouli is a reminiscent scent from the 60′s and 70′s! A hippy scent! You either love it or hate it! I happen to like it! It was refreshing to wake up to Patchouli! She makes my mind ease and relax. She brings me into a place of calmness.

It’s not by coincidence that I feel that way when using Patchouli. This mornings Green Med Info newsletter had an amazing report on Evidence-Based Aromatherapy: Stress Relief and Much More! It turns out that Patchouli has been shown to reduce sympathetic nervous activity by 40%! That’s as good as those who use chemical means or food and tobacco with opioid peptides!!!

The next time you think about finding ways to relax and lower your response to stress, think about using the many products we sell that have the healing benefits of aromatherapy!

Here is the article from Green Med Info.aromatherapy

Renee, it truly is a miracle where I am today! When I think back to the days of hardly being able to accomplish just one thing a day, I can hardly believe I’m the same person. In reality I’m not! Praise God for healing transformations. We’re still rooting for yours my friend!!! Be blessed in the smallest improvements!
