This was yesterday before I started my snow storm preps.
YES, you heard me correctly. Yesterday I was out in a sweater cutting all my greens, wrapping all the electrical plugs with tape, covering my garden beds and battening down the hatches because this is what today looks like!

If it gets any CrAZiEr I might have to check myself in to the looney bin. It would totally be voluntary! Although frankly I’ve been pushed over the edge!!! I hate S*#W!
To make the most of my day though I’ve been listening to Christmas music on Pandora!!! Hey if you can’t beat um, join um!
While the sun was out yesterday I snapped a few for you and my friend Church Bird!

The Mizuna was CrAZy this year too!!! Mmmm so good!

The Fall Lettuce took off after it was planted 3-4 times. The cats either rolled in it. The chickens either scratched in it. OR the sun scorched it! But I eventually had a wonderful crop!

About 10 gallons worth and that was only half!

Tons of Collard Greens from my friend Melissa in Alabama!!!!![]()

The covers were just bursting off!

A beautiful mix of Micro Greens!!! YUM YUM!!!
So, for dinner I had a plate of my bounty plus an added bonus!

It occurred to me that me and God provided 95% of my meal! COOL! I grew everything but the cherry tomatoes, and the Braggs Salad Dressing. Not bad!
I even found a friendly fellow….made me wonder how many I ate before I found him!

Yes, it’s a SLUG. UGGGG!!!!

The Clary Sage that I started from seed lookED beautiful. I just couldn’t get everything cut. But it will come back if it’s not done in from this cold blast.
All of the critters were looking forward to the winter wonderland!
NOT!
Ginger cringed! But she was grinning and bearing it!

The steers were packing away hay!

The cats were napping in the SUN!

The bucklings are fattening up!

Although the girls had 4 bucks to choose from, Curly was their favorite! I’m guessing it was his cologne!!!![]()
He seems to have gotten the job done. The only one not bred is our tiny little Pepita who was only the size of my foot when she was born and is our little miracle. She was the first of triplets. Curly is her brother so he couldn’t be used anyway. Next year she’ll be bred by her distant cousin.

Her very favorite thing to do is jump up on the milk stand and see what Grannie Ginger may of left her. I’m hoping she makes us a great little milk goat!

I guess I can take the fan down now!!!!

Betty Sue is a bit miffed. I found her WAY in the back pasture in fox territory and clipped her wings as I carried her back to the chicken yard. This girl loves adventure!

Tommy Lee Jones is looking more like Thanksgiving every day!!! It’s so funny, he knows his name and comes to it! I’ve grown very fond of him and it will be another act of farming that I will dislike. But his purpose here is to sustain us. And for that we WILL give thanks.

He’s been pretty lonely since we had a mass killing here last week. We lost ALL of our ducks. A den of fox came in a cleaned us out. Tommy Lee has not been himself since. He had to watch it happen and I think it was a shock to his system. The ducks didn’t go up at night and neither did the Guineas….they just refused, so I left them out. The Guineas have stayed very close to him since. They lost one out of their flock also. I’ve tightened Fort Knox and from where I stand it looks safe, but you know those wild animals. When they are hungry they are hungry and I have a feeling that they knew down in their bones that this Winter Autumn storm was coming.

While milking this gal lays her egg right under Ginger’s head. She and her sister roost in the milk room. They always have. They have been rebels from the start. Stay in a safe coop? NO. Play it dangerously! YES!!!

Finished!
Her sister has decided it’s time to play Easter Egg hunting again.

Found it! When this hen started building a nest it was pretty nifty. She would throw straw on her back and carry it to her nest and then shake it off! Guess that’s where the saying comes from. ???

The Guineas have done a great job in the garden! Can you believe that yesterday I had Nasturtiums and today they are dead.
We didn’t even get our first killing frost!

Like Grannie Ginger, I’m learning to just grin and bear it! She is my lovey.
This post is part of the Monday Morning Barn Hop! So Hop on over and check it out!

How sad.

John’aLee~me too!!!
It looks like you are living my dream!
Love that shot of the four young goat eating…
Thanks for writing ~ I love to read about your farm!
We just got frost so I guess I can’t complain!
Poor Tommy Lee Jones!!
The storm missed us completely! We had a few flakes, harsh winds, icy rain and, at day’s end, a beautiful sun giving a scant bit of warmth to our valley.
Last night it was about 22 and a hard frost this morning. Everything looks beautiful and, because the wind isn’t blowing, the temps aren’t all that bad. Morning chores will be lovely.
I love your Ginger. She is like my Isabella. Sorry about the snow. We are getting ours tonight.
What fun to see all these photos!! Love the animals ones. The snow….sure glad we missed that..even though we are chilly here in Iowa still no trace of snow and temps in the 50′s…love the name of your turkey!
