The Secret

I’ve discovered the secret to farming……

Hired Hands!

Whether it’s the four footed ones or the two footed……it doesn’t much matter. There are just too many things to be done for one woman/man to do them all.

While away I had blueberry bushes ordered from one of my Farm GAL friends and upon arriving home, I just knew there was No Way Jose that I could get them planted before the next shoe dropped.

I hired my friends teenage son to deliver and plant them for me.

They are supposedly 3 yrs old and will have berries this year….I’ll believe it when I see it! They were also suppose to be 4′ tall but are only 2′. My friend drove all the way to Jersey to pick-up a load for the Farm GALS. If she hadn’t driven so far, she would of turn around and come home. Hind sight is 50/50!

No matter, I happy to have them.

At least it’s done, that along with 3 Choke Cherry Trees and 3 Cranberries.

While home for 1 short week before heading back when hospice brought my Dad home, my fruit trees arrived from Stark Bros. I’ve had really good success with Stark Bros. and so I bit the bait on the 2 in 1 trees. They have these really cool grafted trees that give you 2 varieties of fruit on one tree. What could be cooler!:D I put in an dwarf apple, a plum, a cherry and a Asian pear, plus 6 thornless blackberry plugs.

Let’s hope I get this histamine intolerance under control so I can at least enjoy the fruit of my labor!;)

The worst thing Bobbi is that HONEY came back as a very bad food “intolerance” for the time being. Oh yeah, I was eating a lot of it too! My food intolerances (delayed reaction) was made worse by the 4 months on Prednisone just so I could breathe. It was a give and take situation…a little sticky (get it)….when you can’t breathe. Now I’m breathing and able to heal my gut.

A hired hand sounds like bliss, Diane! Way to go! I’ve been thinking about and praying for you alot lately. I hope you are finding some peace and rest in the midst of your grief. I wish I could wrap my arms around you and make you a nice cup of chai tea. (((HUGS)))

Get some local honey for the allergies. I can’t stress this more. It is so good for you anyway and will help with the allergies. :) I am going to have a blueberry tree/bush this year too! yay! I love gardening!

That is a lot of fruit trees, hope they all do really well for you. How neat to find 3 year old blueberry bushes and not have to order them from some catalogue.
