My Year At A Glance

December 2009….I WANT TO FORGET THIS!!!

That’s when it all started.

Tender Heart finds the girl of his dreams….think he’s happy? Nah! Couldn’t be.

Joy is bred, December 28, 2009. What a baby she still was.

January 2010. Back to back blizzards. 4 hrs digging to the barn. Yes, I want to remember it no more! The winter it never stopped snowing!

Lady becomes an entertainment-aholic dog! “Who me?”

Yes, Lady is watching TV with The Farmer’s Daughter. Her favorite movie quickly became “Garfield”!

March, Farmer Diane buys Ginger & MaryAnne.

April 8, Sophie & Isabelle are born. Ginger was in shock!!!!:o

April, Planting season begins!!!!

Tender Heart begins the process of applying for the police academy with thousands of others. First with a written exam. Then a physical. Then a poly! (passed with flying colors), Then a background investigation. Then the Chief picks 20-30 out of 80 remaining applicants. All the while weeding out hundreds of thousands. We waited on pins and needles after each test. Still waiting.

50 Freedom Ranger meat birds arrive for the worst 9-12 wks of my life!!!

May 13, Tender Heart has Great Grandma’s deer hunting diamond set for his engagement!

Long story short…The Hired Hand’s Gma bought a diamond when Gpa started hunting…well, every year when he bought new “equipment”, she traded in her diamond….let’s just say her $750 was a great investment!!!! Don’t know about Gpa’s, but Gma was one smart chick!!!

The Hired Hand approves!

She says “YES!”

June 10, 2011!!!!!  They say, “I DO!”

May 1 we began picking our first strawberries. 10 gallons of Strawberries were picked in 3 weeks!

May, Joy is confirmed bred!!!! Oh how she wanted to be a Mommie!

June 22, MaryAnne’s boys are born, on Dad’s 81st birthday.  Danny Boy & Valentino are named in his honor;!!!

June 29, Mom visits from VA. We didn’t know it would be our last.

July, Josie goes to the freezer.

July 3, we harvest 49 chickens….Fatty McFatty was spared!

August, Josie comes home in 7 cardboard boxes! YUM!

Mom dies suddenly September 9, 2010 at 88 years old! She lived a full life.

October; Not Your Mother’s Photography is born! The Farmer’s Daughter joins with a partner to begin a photography business.

October 1, Buddy Burger is born! And we get our first fresh milk.

November. R I P Flo. Our beloved handicap chicken is stolen by a hawk.

December 20; Tender Hearts Christmas Gift….he’s been accepted into the police academy! That was one of the longest and most difficult processes E V E R! Congrats my baby boy!!! Bang bang stick um up!!!

I always knew he’d be a COP!

Fred, the rent-a-buck pays a visit! Breeding begins for kidding season 2011!

And so it goes. It looks to me like life on a farm is life and death. Actually that’s life. Period.

Joys and sorrows.

Merry Christmas to you all and may the love of Christmas be real to you. God came down to dwell with man. What an amazing story of redemption.

I wish you peace & joy this coming New Year!!! May God’s richest blessings be yours!

Love,

Diane@Peaceful Acres

Unless something really exciting happens……which it could….I’ll be taking some finger time off! See you in right here @Peaceful Acres Farm in the New Year!

Merry Christmas, Diane. What a nice year’s-end look in pictures! The tragedy and triumph, balanced out it seems. Here’s hoping for a wonderful next year for all of us!

Merry Christmas to you, too, Diane! Have a blessed season as you spend time with family and friends. No need to tell you how much we need to treasure them while we can (my mother went ahead to heaven 7 years ago); spend all the time with them that you can!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Diane. You sure packed a lot of life into this past year, didn’t you?

Congratulations to Tender Heart on the police academy. That is a huge accomplishment and a real test of patience, lol. The husband of my gym owner has been doing the same with the fire department. Haven’t heard his outcome yet.
