I’ve waited 9 years for this Hydrangea to bloom. My Gma (born in 1900) grew the most beautiful Hydrangeas. I loved her gardens and mine will never hold up to her gorgeous blooms. But nonetheless I continue to try. Many of my blooming loves today were flowers that grew in her beloved gardens.

This lovely lady has been blooming for over 20 years. I love Bee Balm. If you’ve never tasted the petals of the Red Bee Balm, don’t wait another day! They are citrus sweet! I pick the blossoms and dry them for herbal tea blends that warm me on winter nights.

I’m not the only one who loves Echinacea. My friendly blossom sippers are much needed in my gardens for pollination.

Rudbeckia is another of my favorites.

Stark Nurseries sent me these lovely Lilies with my fruit plant order.

Even though I was a week late in planting my tomatoes, they are full of blossoms! That in return means lots of fruit.

It’s been my goal to grow fruit not foliage. So far so good.

I have one bloomin onion. I never realized how beautiful they are.

I have one surviving Martha Washington Asparagus. I bought the roots the first weekend of May, but didn’t have time to get them in until the end of May. They sat outside and were badly neglected. I’ll be very sweetly surprised if the other 9 roots come up!

The bloomin potatoes are wilting. They are ready to dig! We’ve already snuck a few and they are wonderfully sweet.

It also looks like the onions are ready to pull. Most of the reds are down, but the yellow onions are still standing.

And just a bloomin cute picture of lunch time! It’s milk shakes for all!

Thanks Melissa & Mike. Yes, I’d say it has been a good year! I’ve only had livestock for a yr this May. I’ve decided that you’re never really “ready” and the best way to do these things is to put on your Nike’s and “just do it”! The learning curve nearly killed me though!
The other thing I’ve learned is to not listen to all the chatter out there. These things really do have a rhythm and get into a flow.
I would say, having seen your gardens and all the beautiful goats, that you are having a pretty darn good year. Wow, I’m so impressed at the leaps you have taken in the animal husbandry department. Have you always kept livestock?
What MAGNIFICENT gardens you have! I am sooo impressed. I love all of your beautiful blooms. I’m hoping to have black-eyed susans and echinacea in my garden next year. I never got around to germinating my seeds this spring. I appreciate your encouragement on my blog. I am so happy to have found your blog! : ) Melissa
I really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful flowers and had a good chuckle over the goat photos…especially the goat that is peaking around the door looking at you!
Summer is definitely in full bloom here in Iowa too…
