My 25 yr old blueberry bush is putting out a very nice harvest. This winters harsh back to back blizzards did one good thing….give us a great dormancy, which is proving to be a great harvest of fruit. Other than that….. NOTHING!
I’m hoping to by-pass my harvest of 10 Qts from this one bush.
Blueberry count so far….3.5 Qts.
I have plans to make this yummy Blueberry Pucker Conserve on Doris & Jilly Cook.
Other than that I will freeze my blueberries and use them for pancakes and muffins later in the year.
Have you heard all the wonderful news about Blueberries? They are full of nutrients, one being Resveratrol. Â They are packed full of Vit C, antioxidants, and manganese.
Be careful if you have Lyme as I do, Resveratrol can be a very powerful anti-microbial compound and you will have die off symptoms. But eaten in the small amounts of Blueberries ought not to be a problem. It’s the concentrated Resveratrol you find in supplements. Just my 2 cents. Of course it’s not been approved by the FDA or FTC…or any government agency!

Beautiful, beautiful garden! I miss our fresh blueberrys, however, we still have a couple of quart bags we have put in the freezer that I mix with my morning protein shake. I have enough for one more blueberry pie and then it’s wait until next summer! Thanks for sharing!
I have no hints Gina. I planted 4 bushes 25 yrs ago and only this one survived. As you know they always tell you you have to have more than one….well I didn’t until last year and out of the new 4 only 2 survived, but are too small to even have blossoms this year. I did plant them right next to a white pine grove. They do love acid soil. But I have neglected this bush badly, never trimming as I should. I planned on trimming it this winter, but what a brutal winter we had and none of my trees got trimmed because we couldn’t even walk through 2 ft of snow. I guess my only advice is to neglect them.
What a beautiful blueberry bush! I planted six last year. Two totally died and the other four are barely holding onto life. If you have any hints – please share!

Diane, what a productive blueberry bush! I know you must be ecstatic about your harvest. Blueberry muffins are one of my absolute favorite treats. Enjoy!
God’s Peace,
Melissa
10 quarts off one bush, that’s pretty amazing. I hope that ours live 25 years and produce that much in the future. Now if I could just get 10 quarts of huckleberries off each bush I would be rich.:)
