Today the vet came out to preg check my heifers………….OH YES!!!! MY JOY IS PREGGERS! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
It’s been a long time coming. But she took on her first AI to Pvt Pyle a mini Jersey bull. Wahoo!!!
I’m saddened to read that Pvt Pyle has died. He was a direct descendent from the Isle of Jersey. His dam was 42″.
I’m not sure what Joy measures, but she’s still very short and might be a mini herself…..she will have a tiny little calf.
We pray that all goes well with her and she has a healthy calf at the end of Sept, beginning of October. What a birthday present for Joy to have for her 2nd birthday.
I nearly cried and kissed our sweet vet!
But poor Josie. Her fate is at the meat locker. Culling is not easy, but it’s the fact of farming. She is open after 6 AI tries.
Ok…onto cuteness overload that greeted me this morning in the barn. I ran back to the house to grab my camera and believe it or not they just posed for me.
My perfect little nubian kids.
Hang on to your hat.

Life is good!

Thanks Mike!
We’re pretty happy too!
I agree Paula. I’ve learned that on the farm you let the weakest go. They cause all kinds of problems…including financial.
Thanks Betsy!
Congratulations on Joy’s pregnancy!
Those kids are just too cute. Thanks for posting all the pics.
I love that white rump! Goats Kids are so cute.
And thank the Lord one of your cows functions as intended!
I would be hesitent to keep trying the other one as well, because even if she did take finally, she does nto sound like one you would want to use for a breeding line.
Paula
