What’s With That

When we were building the hoop coop, one of our hens was screaming while she was laying an egg!

OMIGOSH, you’d of thought someone was….you know….cutting her head off.

When I collected eggs this is what I found….now I’m not accusing her of anything…but do you think she was a first time layer?

How on earth could that be? She is almost 8 months old.

But really what’s with that egg?

There are 12…count them….

Even Son #1 and Son #2 looked up from building as if…..what’s up with your chicken?

I saved that tiny little egg for a family with little girls who we give eggs to.

We have an “egg ministry” with currently 2 families receiving gifts of life from us.

When I ordered 25 chicks last summer, you can only imagine what Honey said…..25! What are you going to do with 25 laying hens???? Do you know how many eggs that is???”

Ya know I had to come up with something that was genuine!

And I did.

As more and more people are unemployed with families to feed and babies on the way….what better ministry than an “egg ministry”.

So I told Honey that we would give our surplus of eggs away to those unemployed!

He took it! Yep. So today we have an “egg ministry”.

As God continues to bless us we continue to give it away. It’s the least we can do.

And I thought the little girls would just love seeing that tiny egg. Not only that but this was the first time they ever ate fresh pastured eggs and the mom told Sweet Girl that they couldn’t believe how good they were compared to store bought eggs! They are lovers of my eggs! That makes me smile!:)

That’s who I am. I try to hold on to everything with an open hand as the late great Larry Burkett taught. You sure can’t take it with you.

I love that you share your eggs with others, we try to do the same…mostly family and friends. It does make you feel good doesn’t it.:)

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth – John 3: 17-18
