Gyuvech

I did it. I made my own Gyuvech. They are pretty pricey to purchase so I hand built my clay pot last summer. I finally finished it.

It took so long because I didn’t want to rush on finishing the glaze & decor. I finally found certain glaze combo’s that I love. On my Gyuvech I wanted to paint a decor so we did a couple test pieces. And that takes time….6 months to be exact. Hand built pots are not thrown on a wheel, but rather, they are formed by hand. This pot was started in a large bowl mold and finished with large coils. I did a lot of hand working to form a lid that fit and handles that were proportionate.  It must weigh at least 5 lbs. A piece that I hope will be passed down to the generations to come.

I love it! I’m really pleased with how it turned out.  I couldn’t find any green stains that actually fired green…so they are brown.

I’ve had an itch to make Boston Baked Beans, but it’s been on hold just waiting for my pot.  Guess what’s in the oven? If the aroma is any indication of the finished product….oh my, we are going to have happy tummies today!!!

Hop on over to Simply Real Foods to see my recipe and just how yummy the beans turned out.

Oh I knit! We just do not have quite the type of store up here, so I cannot sooth that need for awsome fibers like that.

My grandma taught me when I was 6, and as a result, I have developed a snotty attitude for real fibers, LOL!
