Seems as if I was searching for my family tree and look what I found.
I found both of Joy’s Grandfathers. Super Taco is her Grand Sire’s Sire.

It looks like our little Joy comes from some good stock. She’s really becoming very tame and lovable. Her udder issues have resolved and we will hopefully breed her in July. She’s still pretty short but her coloring is beautiful!
I also found stats on Josie’s Grand Sire, Rock Maple Brook Mannix. But no picture.
Seems as if I didn’t get Josie’s heat right last Thursday. I’m not sure what was going on with her, but today (10-28-09) she was really in HEAT!
I put her in the pasture with Joy and there was a standing mount, where Josie stood and allowed Joy to mount her (referred to as a standing mount)!!! The AI guy came this evening around 7PM (no pictures we were working from the headlights of his car!) and he said she had good tone in her uterus. You know me. The whole time I want to crack a joke…like the line from Father of The Bride….”Do I know YOU???”, but I refrained. I think he was a little peeved that he had to come back cause I didn’t get it right last time…..hey, I’ve never done this before and from what I hear, it takes some practice getting the timing right. At least she didn’t run off into the dark pasture. She did try to mount me several times. I made sure I entered the pasture with a 1×2 and I hit her a couple times over the head to get her to BACK OFF! It’s around 9PM now and she’s finally quieted down…thank God!
She was bred again to WF (Waverly Farms) Duncan Baton. My AI guy said that Waverly Farms is the best American Registered Jersey farm this side of the Mississippi. Now let’s pray that she settles and we get a calf in 9 months.
